Subject: Ecology Notice: Chevron 97502 cleanup site in Sedro-Woolley; Comment Period 6/22 – 7/21; Online Meeting: 6/30

You are receiving this email notice because of your interest in the Chevron 97502 cleanup site in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

The Department of Ecology invites you to comment on an agreed order (legal agreement) and a public participation plan for the Chevron 97502 cleanup site (Site).

The Site is located at the corner of Ferry and Metcalf Streets in downtown Sedro-Woolley, WA. The City of Sedro-Woolley (City) currently owns the Site property. Chevron USA Inc. (Chevron) operated a service station at the Site from 1950 until 1991.

The legal agreement between Ecology, the City, and Chevron will require the City and Chevron to evaluate cleanup options and create a cleanup plan. A future legal agreement will require the City and Chevron to design and carry out the work described in the cleanup plan.

The following documents are available for review and comment:

  • Agreed Order:  legal agreement between Ecology, the City, and Chevron that requires the City and Chevron to characterize the Site (Remedial Investigation), evaluate cleanup options (Feasibility Study), and create a draft Cleanup Action Plan.
  • Public Participation Plan:  document that explains how people can participate in the cleanup process.
