Local Filmmaker to Host Public Screening of New Documentary

Local filmmaker Nic Nakis will host a public screening of his new documentary “REACH FOR THE RINGS” at the Historic Lincoln Theatre in Mt Vernon WA on May 22, starting at 5:00 PM.

REACH FOR THE RINGS tells the story of the sport of Functional Fitness and their hopes of reaching the Olympic Games. This new documentary film portrays the 2019 World Championships of the International Functional Fitness Federation, a not-for-profit, athlete-driven organization, and the effort to bring the sport to the Olympic Games. The story is told through the experiences of the world's top Functional Fitness athletes as they converge on Malmo, Sweden to crown their World Champions.

Who has what it takes to be the champion?
Will the USA dominate in 2019? Will Canada's Alex Parker defeat her rival, USA's Jordan Adcock? Does this sport belong in the Olympics?

The filmmaker will be in attendance to answer any questions that you might have. He would also love to hear your ideas for possible future projects.

Nic Nakis grew up in the beautiful Skagit Valley in Washington State. He has spent the past 20+ years making films, practicing and teaching functional fitness, and traveling the world. He wrote, produced, directed, and edited this film from his home in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Principle photography was conducted in Malmo, Sweden.
